on the shelves

Sunny Side Market is about choice. We have a variety of food available that can help create full meals for you and your loved ones to enjoy around the table.

Things to keep in mind

Make sure to enroll online for shopping before arriving. You only have to sign up once to become an official Sunny Side Market shopper.

If you’re shopping at one of our locations, be sure you live in those areas. Sunny Side Market is meant to serve people who reside within those neighborhoods. Live in another county or city? Check out the other resources available through Care and Share, below.

You are welcome to shop as often as once a week. This ensures groceries are available for as many neighbors as possible.

The quantities for food items you can shop for may vary per visit. We get food from farmers, grocery stores, retailers, and community members. Since the amount and type of food we receive varies, our shelves will look different from time to time.

How it works

At Sunny Side Market, we want your visit to feel like a comfortable and familiar grocery shopping experience. Here’s what you can expect when you come through our doors.

Check in using
your personal key fob

You’ll only have to check in with us once – on your very first visit. A volunteer or team member will issue you a personal key fob for quick, self-guided check ins during future visits.

To make sure all shoppers have access to all the food provided at the market, limit signs may be posted throughout the market.

GRAB A CART &
Start your shopping

As you make your way through the market, keep an eye out for items labeled as “Healthy Choice Food.” These  products help build balanced, nutritious meals.

Please leave your shopping cart inside the market – if you need assistance getting your groceries out of the building, please let a volunteer or the market manager know and we will be happy to assist you!

Bagging your
selected items

We only allow two bags per household when shopping.  Please make sure all items you select fit into your two bags unless instructed otherwise – we may ask you to use a different bag if yours are larger than an average grocery bag.  If we have reusable bags available, we will happily give you two for your first time shopping to bring back with you each time you shop, and we always have plastic bags available.

Frequently Asked Questions...

Anyone in the Sunny Side Market neighborhood can shop at Sunny Side Market, there are no eligibility or income requirements.

How often can I shop at the market?

You or a member of your household can shop as often as once a week. Please see our website for current hours of operation at each of our locations

Can I register in-person if I don’t feel comfortable enrolling online?

Absolutely! Come into the market during our open hours and our market manager or a volunteer would be happy to enroll you.

Do I need to provide an I.D.?

You do not need to provide an I.D. or any other documentation.

Can I shop for another household when I come to shop for my household?

Yep! Just let us know when you check-in that you are shopping for two households, and we will get you set up to do so.

If I shop at the market, am I able to volunteer at the market?

Yes! The same rules still apply – you may fill two bags, and you can only shop for your household on the day you volunteer. This counts as your weekly shopping opportunity. If you are interested in volunteering, please visit our website to register for a stocking or shopping shift at your market: https://careandshare.org/get-involved/volunteer/

What types of food are available at the market?

Our selection changes almost daily, however we always try to have a variety of fresh produce, dairy items, pantry staples, frozen goods and meat, bread, pastries, etc. as donations allow.

Why can I only use two bags?

We have found that by allowing each household to fill two bags, everyone is able to shop for what meets their unique needs while still allowing plenty of food for the folks shopping after them. By allowing you to prioritize what you would like to take home, we do not need to set as many limits on specific items.
